We got back to the room and I almost danced back inside. All I could think about was the next day and what was going to happen. Almost immediately after we got back to the room, I put on my swim suit shorts, and my swim suit top. I threw on a white baggy tee shirt over the top and waited for everyone else to get ready to go down to the pool. I sat on the end of the bed and Kayla came over to me after she got ready in her swim stuff. “What are you so quiet about? You’ve barely said a word since we left the place.” I shrugged and then shook my head, “I guess I just am taking it all in.” I lied. I didn’t want to tell her about the meeting tomorrow. I had to figure out how I would get away from everyone for that period of time tomorrow. “If you say so; tomorrow we should go sights seeing.” I nodded just to get her off my tail, and everyone else was ready so we left.
When we got to the pool, Alyse and Melanie jumped into the pool and Kayla sat on the side with her feet in. Clara and I walked to the hot tub and sat with our feet in the water once again. I sighed a bit, relieved to finally have some peace for once. I looked over at Clara and said softly, “You, Mel and Alyse have to keep Kayla occupied tomorrow afternoon when I go to the café.” Clara nodded and then shrugged “You’ll probably only be down there for what, an hour?” I shrugged and felt another smile coming onto my face. I laughed softly and then shrugged, “I don’t know why I’m so giddy about this, it’s just a chat.” Clara smiled and shook me lightly, “With Zak Bagans!!” she shouted slightly. I laughed and Kayla looked over at us. She hopped up and came over, putting her feet into the tub as well. “What’s with Zak Bagans?” she asked. “We were talking about her conversation with him earlier.” Clara quickly covered. Kayla nodded and then said, “Well did you hear what he said to me?” I tuned out but pretended to listen to her talking. Eventually, I got up and decided to go to the room to talk to my mom about the distraction plans. I got the key and walked out towards the elevators.
I got to the room and saw her on the phone. I sat down on the opposite bed and lay back waiting for her to finish. She finally finished and I sat up and looked at her, “Tomorrow will you distract Kayla from like one thirty to about…..three?” She laughed a bit and shook her head, “I can try, she’s not the easiest person to distract.” I nodded and then shrugged “Well I just don’t want her to come down there or know that I’m talking with him because then she’ll wanna come with.”
Almost on cue, the other girls got back from the pool. I sighed some and hugged my mom goodnight. I walked into our room, and got ready to lie down. Alyse lay next to me and smiled a bit, “We tried to keep her down there as long as we could.” She whispered as Kayla was in the bathroom putting on her pajamas. I shrugged and got my pajamas ready to change into. As soon as Kayla was done, I went into the bathroom and changed into my Reptar pants and just put the white tee back on. I lay on the bed next to Alyse and sighed a bit, thinking about the day. I lay on my side, facing the wall so I could replay the day’s events. Soon after I closed my eyes, I fell asleep.
I woke up around eleven or so, and saw that Melanie and Clara were the only ones in the room with me. I sat up and stretched, and then looked at the clock. As soon as I processed the fact that in two and a half hours, I’d be sitting face to face with Zak Bagans, my stomach jumped up into my throat and I let out a weird squeal. Mel and Clara both looked at me and I giggled to myself, “I don’t even know what that was, so don’t ask.” I stood up and did a little dance over to my suitcase to get some clothes. Clara shook her head some and said, “What are you going to wear for this glorious occasion Madame?” I shrugged and dumped out my whole suitcase onto the bed. I really had no idea as to what to wear. I didn’t know if he was going to dress casual or a bit formal, so I was truly stumped. Melanie walked over and grabbed my dark blue boot cut jeans. “Wear these….and wear….” She rummaged through my shirts and grabbed my long sleeved grey shirt, “This!” I nodded in agreement and went into the bathroom to shower up and get dressed. After my shower and after I got dressed, I walked back into the room and dried my hair. I asked if Clara would straighten it a bit and then put a tiny bit of eye makeup on. I bit my lip as I looked at the clock; it read one o’clock. I stood up from the bed and began to pace a bit.
Kayla, Alyse and my mom came back from Wal Mart, that’s where they had been while I was in the shower and such, with a few bags. I looked at my mom and she smiled, “Nervous?” she asked. I nodded and then shrugged “Do I go down there early? I don’t wanna seem creepy….what if he forgot?” Kayla looked at me weirdly and I completely forgot that I didn’t wanna tell her; Too late now. Kayla set the bags she had down and came over, “What are you freaking out about?” I looked at my mom and then at Kayla, “Nothing…” I grabbed my phone and put it on vibrate, and then shoved it into my pocket. “Jeanne, what is she freaking out about?” I heard Kayla ask my mom. I turned around to look at them and then my mom shrugged adding, “You might as well tell her Manda.” I looked at Kayla, who almost looked angry and then sighed, “Yesterday when I was at the drink table, Zak asked about paranormal experiences I’ve had and I told him a few of the things that have happened.” Kayla’s eyes widened and then nodded as if to urge me to continue. I bit my lip, and then continued, “He couldn’t stand there with me the whole time, so he invited me to talk with him today about my experiences, like at my old house and at the Pfister and stuff.” I looked at her and then at the clock. “I’ve had experiences too. Can I go with you?” I knew this was coming, and got a rock in my throat. I hated letting people down and looked immediately at my mom for some help. “Kayla, he did only invite Amanda, and I think it would be a little rude for you to just show up down there.” I felt a bit better, until Kayla rolled her eyes and said, “Well I’ve had the same stuff happen to me and kinda feel crappy that you guys didn’t tell me.” I was pretty irritated with her at this point, and just said, “Well I didn’t tell you because I knew you’d beg to come with and he invited me.” Kayla just rolled her eyes and walked past me.
My mom just shook her head and said, “Don’t get mad at Amanda-“ “I’m not mad, just irritated.” Kayla interrupted. I rolled my eyes to myself and then looked at the clock; one fifteen. When did time fly so fast?! I sat on the end of the bed and figured I’d head down around one twenty-five. Time flew and soon enough it was time for me to head down. I stood up, hugged my mom and headed to the elevator. The whole ride down my heart was racing and my stomach was doing flips. I pinched my arm and hand just to make sure I was awake. The elevator stopped at the lobby and the bell dinging made me jump a bit. The doors opened and I walked out casually. As I turned out of the hallway that the elevators were in, my heart skipped a beat.
Zak was standing in front of the café with his hands in his pockets. Nick was standing next to him which was a pleasant surprise. I bit my lip, took a deep breath, and walked over. Nick nodded his head and Zak looked at me, “Hey you’re a little early.” I nodded and smiled politely. “Aaron and Billy went to sight see a bit and Nick wanted to join us. Is that okay with you?” I nodded again, “Yeah that’s fine.” They both smiled and walked me over to a table they had set up. It was in a corner of the café where we wouldn’t be too bothered. As we sat down, Zak shook his head some, “I am terribly sorry, but I hear a lot of names yesterday; is your name,” he paused and then looked at me for a second before adding, “Amanda?” I nodded smiling. He clapped and then smiled “Awesome! Usually I am pretty good if I talk to the person a couple times, but sometimes with those meet and greets, it’s hectic.” I smiled again, and added shyly, “I am bad with names, but faces I recognize pretty well.” He nodded in agreement and then sighed some, “Do you want a drink or anything?” I shook my head and then folded my hands in my lap nervously. Nick looked around and then said, “I’m gonna go get water, do you want something?” Zak shrugged and asked for lemonade. Nick nodded and then pointed at me as he stood up, “You sure you’re not thirsty or anything?” I nodded again, “Yeah I’m positive. Thank you though.” He nodded and then headed up to the counter. I looked back at Zak who was looking around some silently. After a moment, he asked, “Are you sure you’re okay with this? I mean I don’t normally just pull people aside into cafes but you had some good stuff to talk about.” I smiled some and felt my cheeks redden. “Yeah, I’m glad to share. I don’t normally meet up with people to talk about this stuff, but as weird as it sounds I love talking about it.” I shrugged, “Kinda weird I guess but its kinda fun to just talk about different experiences I’ve had, almost like comparing scars.” I thought up a quick comparison to use to cover up my weird confession. He smiled brightly and then nodded, “That’s not weird at all. I love talking about it too, I mean obviously, but the people I’m with all the time, Nick and Aaron, are with me when it happens you know? So who am I supposed to talk with?” I nodded, “Yeah that makes sense.”
Our mini conversation was interrupted when Nick set two water bottles on the table and a glass of lemonade. I looked up at him and he shrugged, “ I got you a water just in case you got thirsty later or something.” I smiled and then nervously slid the water bottle over towards me, “Thank you, that’s really nice.” I felt my cheeks redden again and Nick added, “No problem. So where should we start?” He sat down and looked over to Zak. As Zak looked from Nick, back to me, my heart thumped again. I couldn’t believe this was all actually happening. I pinched my hand under the table, just to make sure. The actual ‘meeting’ hadn’t even actually started, and I was already on cloud nine.
